Giveaway: Mom Essentials Doctoring

Today I’m bringing you an interesting resource in home medicating.

If you’re new to self-treatment and aren’t sure where to begin, Jenni and her book, “Mom Essentials: Doctoring” can help.  Here’s a little bit about her:

Jenni has a Master Herbalist degree, has had 12 years experience using herbs, 7 years using essential oils and countless experiences with her 7 children using various healing modalities. She has home educated her children off and on for 14 years, and has done extensive research and training for herself on the subject. She has been preparing healthy, whole foods and creating recipes her family loves for 13 years.

Her book is all about how to doctor your family at home.  She goes through several personal anecdotes and experiences, and follows up with tips and recipes on how to treat all types of illnesses and conditions.  Jenni addresses topics like:

  • Healing sore muscles
  • Soda substitute, “Sassy water”
  • Essential oil use
  • Avoiding miscarriage
  • Fighting urinary tract infections
  • Eliminating constipation
  • Managing RSV and pertussis
  • Endometriosis, PCOS, and other fertility issues
  • Strep throat help
  • Helping eczema
  • Kid calm-all tea
  • Teething pain solutions
  • Twisted ankle relief
  • …and lots more!

(I’ve only included maybe a third of the full table of contents here, honestly, there is really a lot more!)

Jenni includes her favorite essential oils, herbs, and other formulas — with recipes and directions — among her advice.  There are a lot of bits of wisdom to be found on treating a wide variety of injuries and illnesses.

Here’s more about it from her site:

Mom Essentials Doctoring – Learn how Jenni ended years of chronic health problems, quadrupled her energy levels and took control of her family’s health. Her informational how-to articles teach people how to get down to the root causes of illness so they can stop running to the doctor for every little thing. We can all learn the basics of home remedies and do-it-ourselves!

“I enjoy Jenni’s approach to natural and healthy living and love all the information on her blog. I have been using the products she offers with great result and appreciate all of her knowledge about oils, herbs, etc.” –Dagmar Bleasdale of Dagmar’s Momsense

Jenni’s free report:

If I had one criticism of this book, it would be that it is not that well organized.  The stories aren’t separated into distinct chapters (just sub-headings) and sometimes the alignment of the pictures isn’t quite right.  This can make it hard to find exactly what you are looking for, but doesn’t detract from the usefulness of the information.

Do you want to win a copy?

  1. Visit Jenni’s site and read about her books.  Tell me why you want to win and which remedy or treatment you would most like to try.  That’s it! (REQUIRED)
  2. Like Modern Alternative Mama on Facebook
  3. Follow Modern Alternative Mama on Twitter
  4. Like Mom Essentials on Facebook

This giveaway will end on Friday, February 10th, and the winner will be announced by Monday, February 13th.  The winner will be chosen via “…And the Winner Is” WordPress plugin.  Good luck!

Jenni’s book is normally $19, but is currently on sale for $9 — no coupon needed!  Just in case you want to buy now. :)

Thanks for the chance to win!

  9. Staci says

I would love to win this book. We just moved to North Dakota, where natural medicine is not the norm. I have a son with Aspergers that has been affected by vaccines, so conventional medicine is not my friend. I am particularly interested in her posts on treating asthma and croup.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  10. Cindy says

Looks like a great book! I would be turning to the Hayfever Attacks section as three of my children have allergies. Also, the eczema section. I have already liked MAM on fb and how have liked Mom Essentials. Thanks!

  11. Janette says

I would love to win this book because I am very into trying to do things at home when illness strikes. I would like to try a lot of the treatments/remedies that she has. I use essential oils and would like to try the doTerra oils as well.

  12. Karen Verdoorn says

I would love to win this book. I am new to alternative medicine and I like I would do a much better job of practicing what is in this book if I had the reference right on my shelf.

  13. Jackie says

This is a book I could really put to good use. I’m new at herbs as well, and I would definitely be reading the Constipation: Eliminate It! – Jenni’s Gentle Colon Cleanse Formula – Help For Endometriosis, PCOS, & Other Pelvic Issues – Swine Flu Vaccine: Get Informed Before You Vaccinate – Kid Calm-All Tea, The Fast Way.
    Thank you for this opportuntiy.

  14. says

I am new to this type of alternative medicine. I think if I had this book on my shelf I would be more likely to practive the suggestions with the reference close at hand.

  15. Marcella F says

I’m so excited about this giveaway! I am very interested to learn how to treat teething pain naturally. My youngest son is six weeks old, so I have a little way to go until he begins teething, but I definitely want to be prepared for it.

I checked out the website and was so excited to see how to treat asthma naturally. My six year old DS shows symptoms of asthma and has even been prescribed a steroid, but he hates taking it and I’m not to fond of having him on steroids indefinitely.

Thank you for making me aware of this website. I never knew that it existed. :)

  16. michelle says

i visited the site and the remedy i am most likely to try is for sore muscles/damage tissue or eczema

  17. Zsofia says

I am always trying to treat certain ailments at home. I would get a lot of use out of this book. The No neosporin chapter on healing infections would be the place I started.

  18. Debra Estes says

I would love to win this as I am trying to learn how to care for ailments at home and sometimes I’m not sure what to use for something.

  19. says

I would love the Essentials Doctoring book. I love doing anything with natural and avoid taking my littles a DR. It is amazing to me as the more I study and learn the more we have at our fingertips to use!!

  20. Shaina says

Looks like there’s so much great info in that book! I would love to hear what she has to say about constipation, not using neosporin, and the against cold and sickness section. I would get a ton of use out of her book!

  21. Marilyn says

I want to help my daughter with her eczema! I am also very interested in helping the whole family with the bug spray. Thanks for this give away!

  22. Beth S. says

Wow. That sounds like a really interesting book. I’d be interested in the eczema and the bug repellant (and ear aches and strep…) :)

  23. Chari says

Always looking for resources to treat my kids at home–this looks like a great one. At the moment my little one is struggling with constipation so I’m interested to see what she has to say about that

  24. Gwen B says

It’s all about the eczema remedy for me since 3 of the 4 members of my family struggle with it.
Jenni is brilliant and I feel like she has so much great information to share.
Years ago, in a different state, Jenni and I were briefly part of the same co-op homeschool group. I had no understanding then about any of the healthful diet and doctoring topics she understood so well. I honestly thought it all sounded weird. NOW, that I’m detoxing my family from white flour, white sugar and the processed foods Jenni kept her kids from then, I wish I had spent more time learning from her!

  25. Dani says

Wow, I’m really interested in preventing miscarriage! I also want to learn about using more essential oils. Great site!

  26. Bethany says

I have a lot to learn about natural healing and wellness, and I’m particularly interested in eczema treatments.

  27. KatieC says

I’d love to win because I am SO interested in natural remedies (learning about them and implementing this new knowledge was one of my new year’s resolutions). And I feel like I’m going to need to know about some teething pain remedies before too long now, LOL!

  28. Andrea Scherer says

I am a relatively new Mom. I tried my best to stay healthy during pregnancy, had a beautifully natural child birth and am striving to learn natural “doctoring” techniques for my son (and future children). M.D.’s and Hospitals are very important for communities, but (IMO) they can be over-used and at times over complicate health matters.

I’d love to win Mom Essential Doctoring.

  29. Emily says

I just had a baby, and would like to learn from the beginning how to best care for my family at home. I am also interesting in the PCOS info.

  30. Janea says

I would love to win the essential doctoring book..the entire table of contents looks fabulous but I would start with the section on sore muscles.

  31. Shawnee says

I love learning more and more about alternative medicine and natural remedies… this book would be wonderful to have and keep on learning! Essential oils and burning fat naturally would be cool to read about! thanks!

  32. Rose says

I like the Mom Essentials doctoring and this is the book that I would like to have. I believe this book would help us by keeping us healthy naturally and not to depend on prescription meds (unless absolutely neccessary). I find the other books interesting but this book I feel will benifit my families health needs better than the Mom Essentials Healthy Yummy Recipes as my child eats healthy foods quite well (with the exception of red potatoes). To read about your families experiences in The Mom Essentials Jenni’s Stories & Education book sounds like it would be a good book to read as well.

  33. Allison Mihelich says

I would love to learn more about essential oils, and for myself something that actually works for eczema! Thanks!

  34. says

Jenny’s books looks to be full of useful info. I think the Essentials Doctoring is the one I’d like the most. Herbal and narural remedies are new to me; I use a few things but I have not educated myself enough yet on the topic.
thanks for hosting the give away!

  35. Chelsea Wipf says

I would love to know natural ways for dealing with rsv and pertussis because seems like everyone I know with little kids has been having them come down with it.

  36. Dawn says

Sassy water sounds like something we would like to try! Never heard of this, but sounds interesting.

  37. Kelli says

I would love to win the Mom Essential Doctoring book. I so want to learn to practice more prevention and use natural remedies when needed but it’s hard to know where to begin. This would surely help!

  38. Kelli says

Oops, I was supposed to mention what remedy I would most likely try. That would be remedies for ear infections along with anything for asthma control.

  39. Maria says

Done! I like Mom’s Essentials Doctoring. I am especially interested in:

Endometriosis, PCOS, and other fertility issues.

I am a forty five year old woman with endometriosis stage four. We would love to have children. We have been trying for the almost 5 years we have been married with no success. It makes me so sad to think we might never have a child. I would love to win this book – whatever it says about endo and fertility could help us be able to have a child. It would give me such hope. Thank you!

  40. Heidi Meythaler says

I would love to learn more about how to prevent miscarriage. I work with a lot of women in their child-bearing years and would love to know some preventative tips to share to avoid miscarriage!

  41. Jane says

I would love to win the Essentials Doctoring. Dealing with common cold issues naturally would be great

  42. Jessica says

I am very interested in learning about trying to prepare your body to prevent miscarriages, and also I would love to learn more about how she raised her energy levels. Thank you!

  43. Amanda says

I want to win because I would love to avoid the pediatrician’s office. I would be most interested in healing and preventing colds.

  44. Karma says

I have been reading Jenni’s site for a while and really want to use more essential oils for my family’s health.

  45. Jennifer says

This might seem silly, but I really want to know how to make my kids feel comfortable during a cold. My baby gets so miserable and can’t sleep but all I know about is giving pain killers which I don’t want to do.

  46. says

I am really interested in natural treatments but do not have enough knowledge. i would love to win this book as it seems like a really thorough research to have to help me treat my family naturally. I would definitely try the remedies for preventing and treating colds and for healing cuts and scrapes without neosporin.

  47. Sarah says

I am very interested to learn more about essential oils to kill infections and strengthen our immune systems. In a world of Scentsy and other synthetic fragrances, I love the idea that essential oils are potent to do these great things and smell good too- the real deal!

  48. says

I’m interested in the Mom Essentials Doctoring, I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to educate myself on these types of remedies. It would be nice to have everything in one place to reference.
