Pregnancy Journal: I’m So Hot

Yay, a new pic! That’s me last night, at almost 24 weeks. I kind of think I look cute here!

I am really tired right now.

I’m almost 24 weeks pregnant but I feel like I’m further along than that.  I already feel big, tired, sore.  People (who don’t know) have started to guess that I’m pregnant in the last week.  But, I guess it’s pretty obvious now!  That’s good…I don’t look “fat” anymore!  I don’t feel fat, either.  Just big.

We’re having more heat now, finally — nicer weather means more time outside!  On days when the sun is shining, the kids and I have been getting out for a couple hours each day.  I really like being out and having the sun shine on me.  And I like the nice vitamin D we’re getting from doing it. :)   I don’t even mind being hot.

Except at night.

When I am trying to sleep, I must be cold If I am hot, I am very uncomfortable.  Not just because of the heat; my back hurts more, I can’t find a good position to lie in (on my back, which was somehow comfortable right up until the end of my first two pregnancies, is not comfortable at all this time), I’m really fitful all night….  No good!  Sunday night was awful; it was probably 75 in my room, despite the fans and open windows.

Monday night it probably got down into the 50s and my husband was freezing, but I slept great!  I have a feeling that the a/c in my room this summer will be turned down low so I can sleep.  At least until the baby arrives!

Other than this things are fine.  Busy trying to keep up with both this and Babble, and planning to do some things to alleviate SOME of the work soon.  I need to: I probably work 4 – 5 hours a day to keep up.  I can only do it because my husband helps me out so much, but I don’t always like to work that much!

Speaking of Babble, here are a few highlights from the past week’s posts:

There are others, but those are the best ones. :)

Next week I’m hoping I’ll have more going on.  And maybe I won’t be so tired.  I’m not sure if that’s how it works at this point in pregnancy, heading rapidly to the third trimester.  I will have a midwives’ appointment, so there’s that.  I’m almost getting to the point (since this is going so fast) where I’m crazy eager to meet my baby…yet also like, whoa, brakes on please!  Not quite yet!  But it will come in good time.

In the mean time I’ll be planting a fairly large strawberry crop this weekend.  I hope, if the weather cooperates.  This busy spring and summer season sure will keep me on my toes….  And maybe if I have some free time I can get some sewing done too, finally!  Free time.  Hahaha….

Enough for tonight. :)   Methinks it’s about bedtime for all!

I always felt hot while pregnant too. I even thought my poor husband was having thyroid problems because he was so cold all of the time, but then finally realized I was just freezing him out having the heater set on 65 all day and night. It worked well for us to put an extra blanket on my husband's side of the bed (just a little fleece one that we put under the bedspread). Also, if you have a hot water bottle or rice bag, you could try putting it in the freezer and then letting it cool down the bed by your feet all night.
