Well…I’m almost 27 weeks! That, I can’t believe. I had to do a little math in my head quickly to remember, actually. I know I’m near the end of the second trimester, but could not remember exactly how far. Yeah, that’s what happens when life is busy….
I am big. I tried to take a picture to show you, but my camera battery isn’t charged and we can’t find the charger.
Now, just for fun, I’ll compare me, now, to my pictures from the last two times….

Those are both from my first pregnancy: 28 weeks is first, then 35 weeks. I think I am bigger than the 35-week shot now! But I am carrying similarly to this.

These are from my second pregnancy, at 28 weeks and 37 weeks. I’m not quite as big as I was at 37 weeks then…but almost!! Sorry that they are showing my whole belly…I could not find any other ones from that pregnancy! I think I’m carrying pretty differently from this one though…much more like the first time than the second!
So, things are definitely different this time. Not that that’s any surprise, I’ve been saying it all along.
This past week I’ve had some return of “morning sickness.” I feel fine, mostly, but certain smells bother me and I’m really picky about food. It’s not that I can’t eat certain things, it’s just I crave/prefer certain things. I’ve been all about milk, beef, cheese, tomatoes, and lots of fresh foods. So, sandwiches, salads, Italian food…. It’s been okay. It’s hard to eat too much at once.
My daughter is currently obsessed with all things baby. She keeps telling me, “Your tummy’s getting bigger. When it’s really big, the baby will come out, and it will be big and little” (I think she means, big enough to come out, but still really little compared to her) “and your tummy will get little again.” She has asked to see the baby’s head and now knows exactly where that will come out!
My son, who doesn’t fully understand what is going on, pats my tummy often and says “Baby out!” I think he wants to see the baby!
When we visited a friend last week who had a newborn, both were curious. They’d walk over and gently pet the baby’s head and talk to him every now and then (he wasn’t thrilled, because he was trying to sleep), but mostly, they were more into playing their friends than looking at the baby. I am beginning to suspect the same will be true when our baby arrives: they’ll frequently come back to the baby and say hi and touch, but mostly they’ll be busy playing with each other. After all…they’ll be a lot more “interesting” than a newborn, at least initially! I bet once the baby can be propped up, smile, and bat at toys that they’ll “play” with the baby more.
I’m continuing to prepare things for the baby, cleaning around the house, starting to stockpile a few meals (I bought a bunch of extra chicken, which I’ll bread and freeze as tenders or nuggets for quick “fun” meals after the baby comes), and working to get the blog set up to run with less work from me.
While writing this, my kids were racing around wearing hats, and my husband was teasing me. “You never cry,” he said. And I realized, although this pregnancy has been more stressful and busy than the others, he’s right. I haven’t cried nearly as much. (And no, songs on the radio and birth stories don’t count…lol!) So maybe that’s a good thing.
Now, back to the kitchen…I’ve got some experiments coming up.
