Pregnancy Journal: Nesting, But Not Really Getting Anything Done!

I’m almost 32 weeks now and nesting is hitting.  I’m itching to get in the kitchen and start making and freezing batches of…anything.  I know I’m slowly running out of time, so I really need to get moving!

Actually that applies to everything.  I haven’t found and gone through my birth kit from last time, to see what I need to replenish.  I know we didn’t use a lot of the stuff in it last time, so I don’t need to buy more.  But I’m sure there’s something I will need to buy.

I do need to make a decision on a birthing pool.  Last time I used a $30 kiddie pool.  The deal was, I’d use something really cheap — in case it didn’t work for me — and if I liked it, we’d consider investing in a better one.  But now Ben says the kiddie pool we have is just fine and there’s no reason to buy anything else.  I’m torn because it’s not that I really need a new pool, but the kids really need a pool to play in this summer.  So do I give them this one and buy a new birthing pool for me?  Or do I use this one and buy them something else?  I really don’t know.  What would you do?

I’m also working on getting a new camera.  Hopefully by the time you read this we’ll have made a decision…or maybe even have the camera in hand!  I’m leaning towards a Nikon D40, because various reviews don’t seem to think that the D60 or D3000 are really huge improvements over the D40 (and some even think less of them!), and they’re a lot more expensive.  So, ahem…I’d rather go with tried-and-true technology that does exactly what I need and want, in this case, than gamble my time and money on something that people aren’t as thrilled with!

The camera will hopefully mean I can finally post some new pregnancy pictures here.  It’s been a shocking 8 weeks since I’ve taken one.  Meanwhile I continue to grow and grow….  I feel big, I look very pregnant too.  People keep commenting on how pregnant I look now…and how good I look.  I can’t say I’ve ever specifically heard this when I was pregnant before, and definitely not at this point!  No one really even noticed I was pregnant the first time until 34 – 35 weeks.  The second time people started to notice a little around 24 weeks, but even then I looked “small” at 38 weeks!

Of course…what’s a few weeks at this point?  As far as belly shots anyway!  I’m sincerely hoping this baby is late (yes, still, even after 8 weeks of feeling big and hot and uncomfortable) because I am so not ready.  I don’t know what’s wrong with me this time.  I can’t seem to get myself in gear!  I know this baby is coming — soon — and yet I am only just starting to think, “Gee, I really need to prepare…and not just talk about it…but do it!”

I guess that’s what happens when you have two other kids, a blog, and a life.  Right?

So let’s see, now, if I can get it together soon enough…or if I’ll be saying 3 or 4 weeks from now, as I approach my last month, “EEK!  I am so behind!”  I’m sort of guessing the latter…although I hope not!

Toss the pool in the backyard for the kiddos and buy yourself a nicer one for homebirthing. Your husband isn't the one laboring, right? I'd say a-deal-is-a-deal and since you figured out you like laboring in water (and plan on having lots more babies) then stick to the deal and invest in a better pool! Otherwise you'll go through this all over again in your next pregnancy and wish you had just invested in a better one earlier on. Has your husband ever heard the saying "happy wife = happy life" LOL! ;-)

honestly i would buy a birthing pool. they are very different from the kiddie pools; deeper, more comfortale, beter insulated (keeps heat better) plus they have handles that make moving, and various positions easier.
this is the birth of your child. you shouldn't skimp on any bit of comfort mumma can get :)

lol kate, yes, that is the problem with everything…to stop talking/thinking and start doing:)!! oh dear how much i need to take that more to heart too:) as for the pool, well i would definitely get a nice one, esp. since you plan on more babies. but you could just get another kiddie for 30$ since that worked for you last time…..but, if you ever end up having a winter baby it may be nice to have one that actually stays warm:) i can see why it doesnt matter much in august, but in december…. i personally love the tub and even with a less than 45 min. labor, i felt it was well worth the 300$ to rent it! though this time we are going with the 'cheaper' rental that doesnt have a separate warmer since it seems i have fast labors. eitehr way, a nicer pool is going to retain heat much better than a kiddie pool. plus honestly, the kids will LOVE pool and life will be happier cooler and easier for all!

I want that kiddie pool outside, frankly…for ME! It sounds like a nice way to spend part of my summer — sitting in their kiddie pool with them, enjoying the sun, not getting too hot. I already have a maternity bathing suit (which, eek, barely fits me NOW…I tried it on yesterday!) so I could so do that. Ben says they don't "need" it, that it will be expensive to keep refilling it, and that we can just use the bathtub. But…I don't wanna! I want a 'real' pool outside!

And hey if I have my baby during the day I suppose I could even drag a pool outside and have the baby in the sun…supposing I want my neighbors watching, LOL. (Probably not.)

I think if you did ok in a pool, and liked it, then you should defenetely buy yourself another one, maybe even better then last time. I watched this movie last time I was pregnant, its called "Birth as we know it" I thought it was pretty unique, women had babies in lakes, in the ocean. I was amazed. Thats what happened with my 3rd baby as well, I wasnt prepared. I mean as long as you have the basics, for newborns dont need much, then I am sure you will be just fine.

I am glad I am not the only one who wants to go late with baby! I am due in 2.5 weeks, and so not ready! Now that I am done working, maybe I can get some stuff done! Busy stuffing the freezer too, but time is flying by! It must be partially because this is number 4 for me, too much other kid stuff to do! Good luck with everything :)

Got something to say? Go for it!
