Christmas Giveaways: Apple Valley Natural Soap

Welcome to our Week of Giveaways!  This is our way of saying “Merry Christmas” to our readers. :)  We think you’re all awesome and wanted to give you a Christmas gift — so all week, you’ll have the chance to win amazing prizes!  There will be two different prizes per day, one posted at 8 AM and one at 2 PM EST.  Each will have 7 different ways you can enter (all optional).  All giveaways will close on Saturday night, December 8th, at midnight, and all winners will be announced next Monday, 12/10.  (This is so our sponsoring companies have a chance to ship prizes to winners before the holidays.)  Good luck!

Today’s prize is a $25 gift certificate from Apple Valley Natural Soaps!

Apple Valley Natural Soaps is a company owned by WAHM Natalie (who is mom to 9!).  She makes all of the soap herself from 100% natural ingredients.    The soaps are made with the cold-process method using plant-based oils.  They are colored naturally with herbs and vegetable-based dyes, and scented with essential oils — nothing artificial.  To make the soaps even more nourishing, they use ingredients like goat’s milk, buttermilk, yogurt, clay, aloe vera, and even oatmeal!  These are all foods, so they’re completely safe to put on your skin.

Apple Valley offers body bars, facial bars, shampoo bars, body scrubs, herbal salves, and even kitchen bars!  These options can fit your home’s cleaning needs and they are safe to use on children of all ages, and safe for those with sensitive skin as well.  Apple Valley even offers “soap scrap samples” so that you can try a few before committing a whole bar of something — not that their prices are unreasonable at all, with most bars costing around $6.  If you’re seeking natural, healthy, homemade skin care options, check out Apple Valley Natural Soaps.

Christmas Giveaway: Cultures for Health (Excalibur Dehydrator!)

Today’s prize is a 4-tray Excalibur dehydrator from Cultures for Health!

Have I ever mentioned I love my dehydrator?  I use it at least a few times a week, and I have for almost three years.  It took the place of my microwave in my kitchen and I haven’t looked back.  Most dehydrators are round trays with fairly large openings, and they stack up inside the machine (which means that you lose space due to the hole in the center, smaller things can easily fall through, and if you want to remove a tray you have to remove all the ones on top of it — plus the trays don’t dry evenly since the drying mechanism is on the bottom, requiring you to have to rearrange the trays a few times for even drying).  Excalibur is different.  It’s a square unit and the trays slide into it sideways, and the drying mechanism is at the back.  There’s no lost space and the trays all dry evenly.  The trays not in use can even be removed so that the unit can be used for other things!

The Excalibur can be used for:

  • Making jerky
  • Drying fruits and vegetables
  • Drying fruit leather
  • Drying sprouted grains
  • Incubating yogurt
  • Rising bread
  • …and more!

I have used mine for all of the above and more at different times.  It is a great tool to have in my kitchen.

Cultures for Health is sponsoring this giveaway.  If you are into cultured and traditional foods, this company is the one to go to.  They offer starter cultures for sourdough, fermented veggies, water and milk kefir, kombucha, cheese making, and lots more.  They also carry books and supplies for getting started with your own brewing and fermenting.  I have been intrigued by their cheese-making supplies for awhile (presses, wax, various starter cultures) but haven’t had enough extra milk to be able to try it myself yet.  Julie, the owner, is also really good with customer service!

Christmas Giveaway: Redmond Trading Company

Today’s prize is a gift box from Redmond Clay/Real Salt:

  • Seasoning gift box
  • 2 tubes Earthpaste
  • 26 oz. refill pouch of Real Salt

I love these products.  I buy Real Salt exclusively in my kitchen because I like it the best of any natural salt out there.  Plus, it’s the only natural salt that’s produced in the U.S. and not in other countries.  The salt mined is in Utah and was uncovered from an ancient sea, so it isn’t contaminated with the same junk that our modern oceans are (unfortunately) contaminated with.  In addition to being “just salt,” it also contains lots of trace minerals — hence why it has crystals in many different colors.  Real Salt also comes in several different sizes (a table salt size, a popcorn salt size, and a kosher salt size) and even in different flavors (onion, garlic, and seasoned salt).

Also, there is Redmond Clay — a type of bentonite clay, which is excellent for detoxing.  This clay comes in many forms, from a plain powder to creams to pills to — toothpaste!  Yes, the Earthpaste is based on Redmond clay.  It is our favorite toothpaste because it doesn’t contain any fluoride or questionable ingredients (no glycerin either).  Our kids love it and beg to brush their teeth with it!  Redmond clay is also helpful for detox baths, skin rashes, insect stings and bites, digestive upset, and lots more.

Christmas Giveaway: Berkey

Today’s prize is 1 travel Berkey with 2 black elements from United Environmental Solutions!

The Berkey filter, as you may have heard, is one of my favorite products.  I’ve had one for over 18 months now and we use ours constantly.  It even leaks a little (only because my kids have knocked it over more than once; not because there’s anything wrong with the product) and we STILL use it daily.  I wouldn’t know what to do without it!

That’s because the Berkey is THE top water filter out there.  While most water filters that you can buy don’t get rid of most of the junk in your water, and a few powerful ones get rid of almost everything (including stripping water of all the important trace minerals; RO does this), Berkey manages to get rid of all the junk and still retain the natural minerals.  That means pesticides, herbicides, contaminants, fluoride, pharmaceuticals, etc.  Berkey gets rid of it all.

I’ve also enjoyed working with Dan of United Environmental Solutions, who has provided us this Berkey filter.  He’s great at customer service, answering emails quickly.  He’s been a big help to us in figuring out what to do about the leaking Berkey even though he’s not the one who sold it to us.  When someone orders a Berkey from him, he follows up with them via phone or email to make sure he understands their needs and to ensure they get their product as quickly as possible.

In fact, Dan’s actually offering some pretty great discounts to our readers this week!  By ordering through United Environmental Solutions, you can get 5% off any Berkey system, or 20% off any additional black element filters!  (The filters last a super long time — 3 – 5 years for most families — and are not cheap.  This is an awesome discount!  To take advantage of it, go here.)
